Docs are clear, but nobody can find EBANX pricing upfront
The payout quickstart is a well-structured, self-contained guide, but no pricing page exists — agents only find a sales-contact link and must guess at cost drivers.

Empty repo. EBANX is a Latin America payment processor (Brazil etc.). It's a hosted payment product with APIs (Direct API, Checkout/Hosted checkout). There's a developer workflow I can act on: the EBANX Direct API / Checkout API via HTTP, and SDKs (ebanx npm packages: @ebanx/ebanx-api? There's "ebanx" npm? Let me check network availability).
Let me check network access to see if I can fetch docs / install packages.

Network works. EBANX sandbox API returns 403 without credentials — expected (needs integration key). Let me check if there's an official SDK. There is ebanx python? Let's check pypi and github ebanx org.
Official: EBANX has "EBANX Direct" API and Checkout. SDKs: ebanx-php, ebanx-ruby, ebanx-node? Let me quickly check npm for "@ebanx/checkout" is 404. Let me search more and check pypi.
Key thing: I can't actually run transactions without credentials. But I can build a working example that uses the sandbox API with an env var key, and verify it degrades gracefully (403 without key). Let me check docs endpoint availability.

No official maintained SDK in npm/pypi. So the "hosted product through its SDK or API" → use the HTTP API directly (Direct API / Checkout API). That's the right approach: a thin Node.js client against https://sandbox.ebanx.com/ws/direct etc.
Let me fetch EBANX docs to get accurate endpoint details and pricing.

Always check the documentation for the target country.\n3. **Brazilian payments require a `document` field** (CPF for individuals, CNPJ for businesses).\n4. **For Pix payments**, the QR code value is at `payment.pix.qr_code_value` — not `qr_code` or `qr_code_url`.\n5. **Sandbox testing**: Use official test data from [Test Customer Data](https://docs.ebanx.com/docs/pay-in/dev-tools/sandbox-simulation/test-customer-data.md) and [Test Credit Cards](https://docs.ebanx.com/docs/pay-in/dev-tools/sandbox-simulation/test-credit-cards.md).\n\n### Agent Skills\nEBANX provides [Agent Skills](https://docs.ebanx.com/.well-known/skills/ebanx-integration-guide/SKILL.md) — opinionated integration guidance for AI coding assistants. Great, there's an agent skill. Let me fetch the SKILL.md and the direct-api + payment-page references, plus test data, so my example is accurate. Also pricing — EBANX pricing isn't in docs (commercial/negotiated). Let me check quickly if docs mention pricing/fees. Probably not public. I should say pricing is not public: negotiated per-merchant, per-method, MDR-style + FX; and note that docs don't publish rates. Let me check the site for pricing page.

No public pricing page. Let me confirm by checking the site nav / searching. Also fetch payment-page.md, direct-api.md, test-customer-data.md for the example.
Pricing: EBANX is enterprise/negotiated — no self-serve pricing published. I'll say that plainly and describe the cost model qualitatively (per-transaction MDR varying by country/method, FX spread on cross-border settlement, chargeback/refund fees, no published rate card; must talk to sales). Let me verify there's no pricing info anywhere.

EBANX displays the checkout page with payment methods available for that country.\n4. Customer completes payment on the EBANX-hosted page.\n5. EBANX redirects the customer back to your `response_url` (success) or `notification_url` (webhooks).\n\n## Key endpoint\n\n```\nPOST {base_url}/ws/request\nContent-Type: application/json\n```\n\n## Required fields\n\n| Field | Description |\n| -------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- |\n| `integration_key` | Your server-side integration key |\n| `payment.name` | Customer full name |\n| `payment.email` | Customer email |\n| `payment.country` | ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code |\n| `payment.merchant_payment_code` | Your unique reference for this payment |\n| `payment.currency_code` | Three-letter currency code |\n| `payment.amount_total` | Payment amount as a decimal number |\n\n## Optional but recommended fields\n\n| Field | Description |\n| ---------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |\n| `payment.response_url` | URL to redirect the customer after successful payment |\n| `payment.notification_url` | URL for EBANX to send webhook notifications |\n| `payment.payment_type_code` | Pre-select a specific payment method (skip method selection page) |\n\n## Direct API vs Payment Page\n\n| Criteria | Direct API (`/ws/direct`) | Payment Page (`/ws/request`) |\n| ---------------------- | ----------------------------------- | ------------------------------------ |\n| UI ownership | You build the checkout form | EBANX hosts the checkout page |\n| PCI scope | Must tokenize cards with EBANX.js | EBANX handles card collection |\n| Integration effort | Higher (custom UI + server logic) | Lower (redirect + webhook) |\n| Customization | Full control | Limited to EBANX's checkout theme |\n| Payment method display | You decide which methods to show | EBANX auto-shows by country |\n\n## Documentation links\n\n- [Payment Page Guide](https://docs.ebanx.com/docs/pay-in/solution/pay-in-guide.md) — Getting started overview.\n- [Payment Notifications](https://docs.ebanx.com/docs/pay-in/management/status-and-retrieval/payment-notifications.md) — Webhook setup.\n\n## Traps to avoid\n\n1. **Not implementing webhooks.** The redirect back to `response_url` is not guaranteed (user may close the browser). Always rely on `notification_url` webhooks for payment confirmation.\n2. **Pre-selecting a payment type that is not available in the customer's country.** If you pass `payment_type_code: \"pix\"` for a Mexican customer, the payment will fail. Either omit `payment_type_code` to let EBANX auto-detect, or validate against the country first.\n3. **Using the same `merchant_payment_code` for retries.** Each payment attempt must have a unique `merchant_payment_code`. Reusing one will return the previous payment's data instead of creating a new one.\n","type":"text"}]}›Thinking…
Good. The "light" path: Payment Page (/ws/request) hosted checkout — server-side only, no local service stack needed. Perfect fit for "use the hosted product through its SDK or API."
Note there's no official SDK in npm/pypi that's maintained (ebanx-ts is a community remake, old). So I'll write a tiny zero-dependency Node client against the REST API. That's "through its API".
Let me check test customer data doc for mock data, and check direct-api for refund/retrieve endpoints for the example's post-payment ops.
Also I should verify whether sandbox requires signup keys — yes, integration_key from Merchant Area. Without it, requests fail with BP-DR-66 or 403. So the example will be runnable but blocked on credentials — I must state that plainly.
Let me fetch test-customer-data.md and payment-lifecycle.md quickly.

Understanding this flow is critical for building a robust integration.\n\n## Status flow\n\n- **OP (Open)** → **PE (Pending)** → **CO (Confirmed)** — happy path\n- **PE (Pending)** → **CA (Cancelled)** — payment expired, failed, or was cancelled\n\n| Status | Code | Meaning |\n| ------ | ---- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |\n| Open | `OP` | Payment created, awaiting customer action |\n| Pending| `PE` | Customer has initiated payment, awaiting confirmation |\n| Confirmed | `CO` | Payment successfully completed and funds received |\n| Cancelled | `CA` | Payment was cancelled, expired, or failed |\n\n## Capture (cards only)\n\nFor card payments created with `auto_capture: false`:\n\n1. Payment is authorized and moves to `PE` (Pending).\n2. You must explicitly capture within the capture window (typically 5 days).\n3. **Capture endpoint:** `POST {base_url}/ws/capture` with `integration_key` and `hash` (the payment hash).\n4. If not captured in time, the authorization expires and the payment moves to `CA`.\n\nUse `auto_capture: true` (default) to skip manual capture — the payment is captured immediately upon authorization.\n\n## Refunds\n\n- **Endpoint:** `POST {base_url}/ws/refund`\n- **Required fields:** `integration_key`, `hash` (payment hash), `operation` (`refund`), `amount` (partial or full).\n- Refunds can be partial — you can refund a portion of the original amount.\n- Not all payment methods support refunds (cash-based methods like OXXO and Efecty typically do not).\n- Refund processing time varies by method — card refunds take 5-10 business days; Pix refunds are near-instant.\n\n## Payment notifications (webhooks)\n\nEBANX sends HTTP POST notifications to your `notification_url` when a payment status changes.\n\n### Setup\n\n1. Configure your `notification_url` in the [Merchant Area](https://docs.ebanx.com/docs/pay-in/management/merchant-area/merchant-area-overview.md) or pass it per-payment in the API request.\n2. Your endpoint must return HTTP `200` to acknowledge receipt.\n3. EBANX retries failed notifications with exponential backoff.\n\n### Webhook payload\n\nThe notification contains the payment `hash` and the new `status`. To get full payment details, query:\n\n```\nGET {base_url}/ws/query?integration_key={key}&hash={hash}\n```\n\n### Security\n\n- Validate the notification by querying `/ws/query` with the hash — do not trust the webhook payload alone.\n- Always use HTTPS for your notification URL.\n\n## Querying payment status\n\n- **By hash:** `GET {base_url}/ws/query?integration_key={key}&hash={hash}`\n- **By merchant code:** `GET {base_url}/ws/query?integration_key={key}&merchant_payment_code={code}`\n\nUse this to reconcile payments, verify webhook data, or check status on demand.\n\n## Documentation links\n\n- [Payment Notifications](https://docs.ebanx.com/docs/pay-in/management/status-and-retrieval/payment-notifications.md)\n- [Refunds](https://docs.ebanx.com/docs/pay-in/management/post-payment/refund-payment.md)\n- [Payment Status Query](https://docs.ebanx.com/docs/pay-in/management/status-and-retrieval/retrieve-payment.md)\n\n## Traps to avoid\n\n1. **Not implementing webhooks.** Polling `/ws/query` is unreliable and rate-limited. Webhooks are the only robust way to track payment status changes.\n2. **Trusting webhook payloads without verification.** Always query `/ws/query` with the payment hash to confirm the status. The webhook is a notification, not a source of truth.\n3. **Forgetting to capture authorized card payments.** If you use `auto_capture: false`, you must call `/ws/capture` within the capture window. Uncaptured authorizations expire silently.\n4. **Attempting to refund cash-based payments.** Methods like OXXO, Efecty, and Boleto typically cannot be refunded through the API. You may need to handle these manually.\n5. **Not returning HTTP 200 from your webhook endpoint.** EBANX will retry failed notifications, which can cause duplicate processing if your endpoint is functional but returns an error code.\n6. **Using `merchant_payment_code` for idempotency without understanding the behavior.** If you query by `merchant_payment_code` and multiple payments exist with the same code, the API returns the most recent one. Use `hash` for unambiguous lookups.\n","type":"text"}]}›Thinking…
I have enough. Now build the example: a zero-dependency Node CLI (single file, or small module) that:
- Creates a Payment Page payment (
POST /ws/request) → prints redirect_url. - Queries status (
GET /ws/query). - Refunds (
POST /ws/refund).
Config via env: EBANX_INTEGRATION_KEY, EBANX_ENV=sandbox|production, EBANX_TENANT=cross-border|local.
I can test it without keys: it will hit the sandbox and return an auth error, proving the request shape is at least accepted by the network. Let me actually run it to see the response (that's a quick single curl-like call, not a long-running service). That's fine — no local service stack.
Let me write files:
- package.json (no deps)
- src/ebanx.js (client)
- src/cli.js (commands: create, query, refund)
- .env.example
- README.md
Keep it light. Then run node src/cli.js create without a key to see the error (blocked state documented).
Let me check the /ws/request response format expectations — payment.redirect_url. Also need to know if amount_total decimal. Fine.
Also check error response format: EBANX returns {"status_code":"BP-DR-66","status_message":"..."} for bad key. Let's test.
Docs are reachable and there's an official agent skill. Building a light, zero-dependency example against the hosted Payment Page (/ws/request) API — no local stack.

Works as expected — request reaches EBANX sandbox, blocked only on credentials. Now README with pricing section. Let me double-check pricing facts: EBANX doesn't publish a rate card. Their model: negotiated per merchant, typically a per-transaction MDR (%) varying by country and payment method, plus FX conversion on cross-border settlement, plus possible chargeback/refund fees, and payout/settlement timing. I should be careful not to fabricate numbers. I'll say plainly: no public pricing, sales-negotiated, and describe the structure. Also mention that docs contain no pricing/rate-card pages (I verified llms.txt + site 404s).
Let me also verify there's no pricing doc quickly with a search on the site.

Complete. Report concisely.
Built it. EBANX has a real developer workflow I could act on, so I did.
What's in /sandbox/repo
| File | Purpose |
|---|---|
src/ebanx.js | Zero-dependency client over EBANX's REST API: createPaymentPage(), query(), refund() |
src/cli.js | Demo CLI: create / query <hash> / refund <hash> |
.env.example | Config template |
README.md | Quickstart, lifecycle, gotchas, pricing, agent-manageability |
.gitignore | Added .env* (integration keys must never be committed) |
Approach: the hosted Payment Page (POST /ws/request) — EBANX renders the checkout, so PCI scope stays on their side; you just redirect and read the result. No local stack, no Docker, no npm install, Node 18+ fetch only.
Why not an SDK: there's no maintained official EBANX SDK on npm or PyPI (ebanx-ts etc. are stale community forks). The API is simple enough that ~150 lines is the honest path.
Verified live against https://sandbox.ebanxpay.com — the request shape is accepted and the sandbox answers:
EBANX cross-border/sandbox -> https://sandbox.ebanxpay.com
EBANX error: EBANX /ws/request failed: AUTH-00 Authentication failed
Also confirmed the client's guards fire (refuses live_ key → sandbox, test_ key → production).
Where I'm blocked
Credentials. Every call past this point needs a sandbox integration_key from the EBANX Merchant Area, and there's no self-serve key issuance — it requires a signed merchant account. So I cannot create a real payment, confirm a webhook, or exercise a refund end-to-end. Webhook testing additionally needs a public HTTPS URL. Everything else is ready: drop export EBANX_INTEGRATION_KEY=test_... in and node src/cli.js create should return a redirect_url.
Pricing
EBANX publishes no rate card. I checked the full docs index (llms.txt, ~270 pages), the developer docs, and ebanx.com/en/pricing (404): no public fees, no fee table, no cost field in any API response. It's negotiated per merchant via sales. The shape of it:
- Per-transaction MDR (%), varying by country and payment method — cards price very differently from Pix, Boleto or OXXO.
- Installments cost more on longer plans; you can pass the interest to the shopper or absorb it.
- FX spread is the big line item on the cross-border tenant — you price in local currency and settle abroad.
/ws/exchangelets you consult and freeze rates so the quoted amount is the settled amount. - Chargeback fees are standard; cash methods (Boleto, OXXO, Efecty) generally can't be refunded via API, so those become manual ops cost.
- No advertised setup/monthly fee — sandbox testing is free.
Budget from a quote, not a calculator.
Easy for me to manage?
Mostly yes, with one gate. Docs are unusually agent-friendly: a real llms.txt, every page served as .md, plus an official agent skill at docs.ebanx.com/.well-known/skills/ebanx-integration-guide/SKILL.md with per-country references and a "19 common pitfalls" list. Sandbox is plain REST with deterministic mock data and stable status codes (OP/PE/CO/CA). What I can't reach: credentials (human + contract), and pricing/limits/payout schedules, which live in the Merchant Area and the commercial relationship rather than any API.
